Most people visit El Torcal on a day trip from the coast. If you stay nearby, you can head up first thing, before the car park fills, watch the sunset from the viewpoints or come back after dark for the observatory. And the next day, Antequera, the Caminito del Rey or the beach are all less than an hour away.
Why Villanueva de la Concepción
- A 12-minute drive (about 9 km) to the Torcal Alto Visitor Centre, via the southern side.
- Hiking from the door: the SL-A 295 trail climbs on foot from the village up to El Torcal.
- A quiet village with bars, traditional taverns and a supermarket just a few steps away.
- Well placed for getting around: Antequera 22 minutes away, Málaga and the beach 45 and Málaga Airport about 50.
Staying in the village or in Antequera
Antequera has more monuments and more restaurants, but from there El Torcal is about 20 minutes away and you sleep in a town. In Villanueva you stay in a mountain village, closer to El Torcal and nearer the coast. Many of our guests do both: they stay here and drive down to Antequera for lunch or dinner.
